am I being really thick or missing a trick. Got my oil fix kit from minispares that has the alloy support ring with rubber o ring but when I tried to put it all in the diff cover case the depth of the ring plus oil seal is way too much for where the usual oil seal goes.

We tend to use to rubbers instead of de aluminium one. Guarantee no more leak.

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

With mine, I left everything as it was but hammered another seal in as there's room for two. Solved it for me.

ring problems are down to wear or abuse but although annoying it isn't a show stopper

Depends on the age of the gearbox as Austin Rover implemented such a 'fix' as standard. They still leak lol.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

You can get up to three seals in there !

Bit of a bugger to get them all out again though.

Old post I know but always seem to suffer from this area leaking.
Is it worth putting a smear or sealent on the seals when fitting this kit?

My build thread..

The aluminium bush with the O-ring on the outside could be improved with an O-ring on the inside. Personally, I'd make my own and use a smaller cross section O-ring on the inside and outside of it
