Should be able to, might just need to get a remote change setup instead of rod change.

It should fit ok. You'll obviously have to change to remote type shifter or change the casing to rod type though.

I have a rod type casing, so is it just a case of swaping the internals? or would it just be easier to get a remote type shifter? Would I have to ghange to the older type clutch casings and clutch type?

You can use whatever clutch you like as that's governed by the flywheel type.

3 syncro invariably means 1st gear is fucked,

and remember crash box into 1st, like a dog box.

good points ,long 1st gear

The casing will bolt to any block, you will just need to have the correct transfer case, or renew the bearings in the transfer case and the bearing on the first motion, because they are a machined pair. I think you can use your existing case as long as you do as above, but I'm not 100% sure, someone should be along to confirm or deny this haha.

What do you mean by 1st gear is fucked? So the older boxes were the same as a dog box? i.e 1st is down on the gear stick instead of up?

1st is a crash gear so it gets fucked... as there is no syncro on this gear, hence 3sync box...

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

There's no synchro on 1st gear, so nothing to slow the gear down when you down shift to first. Very easy to wear first gear out. It's likely to be crunchy in first gear. Personally I would sell it on and get a 4 synchro A+ box.

The early boxes use an idler gear with a thinner shaft than the A+ and they are prone to failure.

Slow down, many people have spent a fortune on useless/ unsuitable parts. Take your time, do the research and buy carefully

I think I might replace the layshaft and maybe sell it on. I take it by the responce that no one on here is running a box like this?

Had my eye on this box but was out this afternoon and didn't get a chance to bit before it ended. Price was lower than i'd expected it would go for

Why? It's the lay gear that are worn. The clue to it's condition was in the description - suitable for rebuilding.

You'll need a pre A+ transfer gear set for that too
