I borrowed a dti gauge yesterday and forgot how he told me to convert into mm. On the front it has 001" & 0-2".
I worked it out to half a turn is 1mm, but I maybe wrong.

Thanks

1 inch = 25,4 mm.
As i have only seen a dti gauge in mm, i can´t really picture what it looks like.
On my dti gauge, one full turn is one mm. I think it has 8 or 9 mm in total.

Hope this will help you

Each marker on the face should be 0.001"

So:
0.001" = 0.0254mm
0.05" = 1.25mm

1/2 turn should be 1.25mm

A picture would help though.

As Carl said 1mm will show 40 on the gauge if set to Zero before moving.

As per my previous comments.

The 0-2" is the total travel of the gauge.

If the gauge was set at Zero before any movement / measurement was taken the reading on the gauge would be either......

0.04" = 1.02mm
0.06" = 1.52mm

Depending on the direction of the needle.

Hope this helps.

I always work on the figures.

40 Thou to the mm.
4thou is 0.1mm
10thou 0.25mm
1thou is 0.02mm

But like Carl says they are not exact, but if you need to work to tighter tolerances than the above stated you are best off working in the the same units as your measuring equipment as it saves any errors in converting figure.
