I have just purchased a Nimbus with a Vanden Plas 1275 cc engine. Does anyone have a build manual for a Nimbus kitcar. The engine bolts straight into the subframe, but it is all the auxiliaries such as lights, hinges and so on which are a problem. It has Vauxhall Viva steering. Of course, the car is built on a Mini subframe. Any information about the Numbus will be gratefully received. Mick

I do indeed have a build manual for a nimbus. I can dig it out and make a pdf when I get back to work next week if you like?

Can it be true that there are two complete nimbuses on the road?

Here is mine, Metro turbo engine in the back. got any photos of yours?

There's worse looking modern cars on the road if you ask me. It's not all that bad.

PM me an email address and I'll get it sorted next week. Do you have a V5?

Yeah, not great looking, but not bad cars. When we were at Le Mans last year we were parked next to some Lambos, this got lots of attention, and not piss taking.

Hi Wil

Many thanks for your prompt reply. A pdf of the manual will be great. I am not good with emails but if you could send it to my pal David Foley at admin@tekc.co.uk he will print it out and pass it on.

Once I get the Nimbus manual, I will fit the doors and headlights. By the end of February I should have the engine bolted in and all the bodywork ready for painting. I also have a Clan Crusader with a 930 cc engine bored out to 998 cc. I should have this on the road by March.

Eventually, I want to put a K series engine in the Nimbus, from a MGF. This should make the Nimbus a fair bit quicker than the Clan.

By the way I also have two Messerschmitt, both KR 200s. They both have the Sachs 191 cc engines. As you probably know, there are two sets of points in these cars - if indeed they should be called cars; cockpits might be a better description. The effect is that the Messerschmitt can in theory go as fast in reverse as it can forwards, which is not a lot, about 60 mph at zero feet. The 0 - 60 speed is 15 minutes with a following wind.

The Nimbus is my main interest at the moment and I am keen to get it on the road and surprise a few people who will wonder what on earth is stopped next to them at the traffic lights.

All the best

Mick

I've recently Sold my Nimbus, I was never going to get round to building it so let it go. My plan was to build it using a MGTF as the donor (frames, steering engine, electrics etc). Would have been relatively straight forward to get it through the IVA that way.

Sounds like a great collection. I'll get the manual sorted for you.

If you need any further info/advice I can always pop out to the garage and take a photo.

The biggest problem with mine is that the fuel tank is right behind the radiator. I plan to move it to under the scuttle, just like the clan. It also needs abetter oil cooler, plan is to fit a water type one on the oil filter. But other projects are taking priority.

Mine also has a full height bulkhead between cabin and engine bay. Rather than the cover as originally designed.
