That thread is the big nut on there, I have tried 1/2 unf to big 7/16unf to small, m12 coarse goes on one turn. So could it be m12 fine?

Seen as they're Metro ball joints M12 fine seems pretty likely.

M12x1.25 or m12x1.5, depends what the manufacturer of the ball joint felt like that day. Metric thread pitch is easy to measure. turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)
