Just looking at buying a duplex timing set and mini spares do a lightened one and a stdbut both say road use only as I may want to quarter mile it occasionally which one do I use ?
What are you guys using I didn't want to go to too much expense where it may not be needed.

They'll both be fine to use Neil, don't worry about that

ring problems are down to wear or abuse but although annoying it isn't a show stopper

It's probably just not meant for use at sustained high rpms

To be honest, I'd just use the standard single row gears and chain and set the timing with offset keys

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

If you fit the duplex chain remember to modify the timing cover.

Mine had the lightened duplex set with an offset key with no issues, now have the rota slide.

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve
MITP 2012 17.01 seconds 1/4 mile against "The Don"
MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

If used on a highish revving engine, get the steel one. Iron is for standard engines.

well ive lightened and balanced all engine parts so I think it will be a bit of a revver so what steel one do you mean the one that's not lightened
