hi all.

since i now decided to go turbo i have a m45 for sale. if its not sold by the imm i promised my stepsister she can have it for her 998. but she would like it sucking *happy* instead of blowing *Rofl!* now i would like to set that up for her but a few questions come to mind.

1 what does the fuell do to the charger flying trough it ( or are there no problems there)

2 also i have her engine now set upp with a 1275 big valve head and compresion is around 11.5 to 12 ( cant remember exactly) it has flat pistons ( metro engine) how low should i get the compresion?

3 would that work with the 1275 head?

if anyone is intrested in the charger i can bring it to l2b or imm.

edit... its a left hand drive with the old brake mechanism... will there any problems there?

Ahhh, fair enough *happy*

1, most m45 settups are suck through, i have heard storys about the coating coming off the rotors but imo thats more to do with running them at a too higher pressure / temperature

2, 9:1 cr max imo, but i would probably go lower ( no intercooler but arguably the fuel would help cooling alot) swings and round abouts,

3, i would guess that head has been skimmed to get 11.5-12cr, not good as you would need as much compression volume as possible ( engine should be some what like a turbo engine boost is boost but turbo is better *wink* )

thats what i heard but nobody could give a reasen (the mechanic at the bmw garage told me he couldnt see a problum with fuel on them but also said thats not what they were desinged for so bit of a vage answer from them)

of course no intercooler (dont see the fuel go trough an intercooler)

i thinck it has been skimmed once not sure though. chambers have never been worked on so maybe there can be enough gain there?

So she prefurs to suck than blow... Interesting.

Is it not worth the little extra effort to make it blow tho so an intercooler can be used?

If it's left hand drive with the master cylinders on that side of the car, they will likely be in the way of the pulley and charger. Here's my non beaten suck through setup:

I don't want to do to many mods to her car... also maintenance wise its easier. .. i was going to let it blow before i decided to go turbo.

Thats a nice set up. What would be needed to move the brake cilinder over to the other side next to other brake hoses. Would it work with a remote servo? I have a few laying around.

The there still would be a problem with the clutch cilinder i guess.

Can't have a decent look till i get her over here to remove her twin carb ( needs a single for the imm because of the fuel consumption and the carbs need a rebuild)

I also had a look to the inlet manifold of vmax... bit strange to keep just a small hole to let the pressure trough.. ?

Thanks. I've seen LHD setups with a bar running inside the car to a cylinder on the other side, clutch cylinder will still be in the way though.

so it appears that the clutch cilinder doesnt needs to be moved and with the right brake cilinder and slightly raised charger (and hood bulge) i could even leave that one in its place.
