Simple question *surprised*

What loctite is best for general rebuild (243) ?

The blue 243 is pretty good all rounder, especially if you/someone will be taking it apart again, some of the red ones are near impossible to get apart again.

my bro has had issues with Loctite not holding the bottom pulley bolt. he has had the engine in and out numerous times with this issue, has ruined several std bottom bulleys, as well as a few expensive med trigger pulleys, as well as a few cranks and a rad tec radiator because the bolt kept coming undone. last time he put it together he got some sort of uprated Loctite as recommended by MED. also the bolt and thread were perfectly clean, free of contaminents each time he put it back together. this is on a hight reving na motor with 296 cam mind, I have never had issues with the usual loctite

The uprated bolt is a round 1 so u cant use a lock tab. I used red loctite on it but when I wanted to take it back off I ended up using a breaker bar to make it shift

Also seen the MED bolt come loose on a mates mini and make a right mess of hte rad and cooling fan.
Best to get the standard pulley machined and use the lock tab.

243 is a good locktite. You need to make sure that the threads are completely clean and free of oil before applying it thoug.

Anyone had any experience with loctite 241?
I'm guessing it's similar too 243. But we use it at work *smiley*

There is a lot of different types of loctite. Some are for stues, some for bolts or nuts. It all depends of the use.
