I bought a cheap USB serial adapter off ebay, and went for what I thought was the best quality looking one for under a fiver.
Got it, plugged it in and it wouldn't work properly after installing the drivers.
Ive probably spent an hour trying to get it to work and finally found the right ones off the internet.
So, if any of you have a lead that looks like this..

Then the drivers you need are here: http://www.cablesdirect.co.uk/corecode/dow...d.aspx?id=32105

First unzip to desktop, then plug in the cable, then cancel the auto update thing when it starts to install and then just let the pc do it's thing, so after about 7 or 8 different sets of drivers this finally worked. It says the device is a Prolific one, but looking at the cable data sheet it doesn't have this chipset. So if anybody is struggling then hopefully this works!

fucking USB 232 cables! LOL

Ive said this loads of times... but, the PCMCIA to 232 cards work well if you've got a slot for them..

I only have a desktop so this was my only option as no serial port :(
When the car is running (long time away yet) I'll just get an old cheap laptop for the purpose of megajolt tuning.
