bastards! got my first 'notice of intent of prosecution' for allegedly doing 41 in a 30 zone.

*Clapping*

so what will happen next? is it likely I will get 3 points and fine, or am I likely to be offered one of these speed schools?

hopefully it will be speed school so that I may learn my lesson and the dangers of wandering over the speed limit on a quiet country road at 10pm on a quiet sunday night

from what I have seen I might be eligible for speed school and to avoid points - seems the criteria is 3% of speed limit plus 9MPH, making 42?

anyone who has had experience of this please get in touch,

cheers, dan

I got the option of a 'Speed Awareness Course' and I was doing 38 in a 30.

I think you're right about 42 as well.

If anything the course makes you realise how clueless the rest of the Great British Public are..

You were speeding, bend over and take what's coming......they're the rules....

This is FORD country, on a quiet day you can hear Vauxhalls rusting.

You might get offered the course if its a first offence, however more likely to be 3 points and £100 fixed penalty

lets hope its the course.

I have been driving for over ten years, never even stopped by the police, never mind any points, will have to wait and see. what will be will be

I am more disappointed with getting caught to be fair. he was parked behind some parked cars so wasn't obvious to spot

but there we go

bear in mind that if you go on the course and then get caught again they are likely to send Sheriff John Bunnel round to rape you....

Do you not have to pay for the course, which is around £160?.........

Course is £90 I had to do one about a year ago for doing 34 in a 30 at 6.30 in the morning on a country road. *oh well*

It was actually not too bad, and found out some stuff I didn't know. You'll save the £90 in your first years insurance if you can get on the course.

I've been on one of those courses and mine was £80 in Bristol. I also found it very insightful and have generally slowed down my driving because of it. I also thought it was going to be a massive wrist slapping and telling off but it really wasn't. Its worth going on just to save your points as well. I know I sure as hell can't afford to lose my licence either because of work.

Another thing I will say is that a work colleague just told me his sister was caught speeding 3 years ago and was offered to go on the course, which she did, and just recently got caught again and was been offered the course this time round also.

£75 this goes to the police.
£60 and points goes to the council (or vice versa can't remember exactly,

Second time 60 in a 30 and racing against another 'speeder'

3 points no offer of a course obviously didnt learn the first time haha

That was when I parked the mini up, settled down to build a faster mini pmsl

When I did my course in Wiltshire the cutoff was 39mph in a 30 zone.

I know this as I had to argue to do the course as I'd been nicked at 39 and they wanted me to have points. The dim bint on the end of the phone made it very difficult indeed to facilitate a course within the specified time frame...

Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

I think they just make it up how much they charge you etc.
I've taken the points , doing 37 in a 30 .
I'd rather do that than sit in a classroom for 4 hours having some prick tell me my driving is shit.
My mate even got done doing 67 in a 70 !!!!! On the a64 but he was in a van !!! I suppose he should of been aware that he is only alloud to do 60 but seams a lot dont

belgium

Love the point system. So in kmh that makes about 65 in a 50 zone... in the dry that would be a 150 to 200 euro fine... anny more loose your licence for 14 days and 250 to 500 euro here. ( no point system yust big fines and lose have a bad judge you can be on your way to driving school again .... wwonder how much fine i would have if i would have to pay for all my speeding and redlight tickets in the uk ( in the last 7 years i did imms andl2bs and so on i have 17 speeding tickets and about 13 times that i ran trough the red lights in the uk... but the bad cooperation between uk and belgium makes that i never had to pay for them)

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

Your insurance may well be affected even if you take a speed awareness course.

Some companies are taking the view that if you were speeding then it is the same as points, whatever choice you make.

There was quite a fuss about this recently and I am not clear how this may or may not have been resolved

Here you go Shauna.

https://www.gov.uk/speed-limits

If it's a Kangoo/Partner or similar then it will be the same as a car.
If its a Transporter/Transit etc then it is different.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I read exactly the same on the internet (some on-line email magazine I get every couple of months as part of my breakdown package....) and, as David says, some of the insurance companies want to take it into account but they seem to be in some disarray as to how to do it.
