Hi,

Could I get some advise on the following?

Im looking for a dizzy for my motor 1380 turbo there is a dizzy that I have found that has been set at 10 degrees advance at 5500RMP would this be suitable for running around 10 to 12psi the reason for me asking is that at the moment I do not have a dizzy or the funds to go megajolt or nodiz.

Many Thanks

Squinty

Do you mean the dizzy has been locked to give no advance ?
If it has you can rotate it to give a fixed timing of whatever you like. Setting it at something like 25 degrees would get it running & it would drive but is not ideal.
It would run like complete crap fixed at 10 degrees.

Hi Phil,

It just states that its advance curve has been set at 10 degrees at 5500rpm done by switune doesn't look like a turbo dizzy. Its on ebay at the moment.

Standard turbo dizzy it is then. Don't suppose anyone has one their willing to sell?

I won't be the last to suggest Megajolt....

It's worth the extra effort and cash.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

I know megajolt is the way forward and will go this route next year. I have had the car for a number of years and just want it on the road standard dizzy will be fine for now.

If you get the car properly set up with a dizzy you will have to spend out again to have it set up with mj in a year. If you dont have a boosted engine set up with a dizzy theres a chance the engine will go pop by the time you get it set up properly with mj. Its a bit more expense but not a huge amount. Seriously consider mj

get a stock dizzy ,take out the springs , lock the advance mechanism from being able to move(or do what I have done in the past and just let it be free ) ,and keep the vacuum can on it and working ,then fix timing at 20 degrees ,and go from there .

you can play with advancing it up and down , I think I ran 24 degrees on 10 psi ,on a stocking head and cam . but any increase in breathing eg ported head or better cam ,will need a reduction in timing .

if you have too much timing ,the engine can melt down without you hearing anything beforehand ..so be cautious.

Before I went Megajolt I ran the standard Metro turbo distributor with a max advance of 28 degrees. I got 114bhp on 10psi on a rolling road with the old T3 which, at the time, I thought was amazing.
