right i went to take the cylinder head of last night as i dont know what condition it will be in, but the little bugger wont come off. I have only ever take heads of when the gasket has blown. What is the trick to getting them off of is it the old hammer and wood method.
Cheers

Betwix Harrogate and York

The only reason I've ever had one 'stick' on is when I've forgotton to take the by-pass hose off.

Although if its a Metro turbo you probably won't have one.

As long as EVERYTHING (this means check first)is undone the hammer and wood method should be fine IMO.

i've had a few that have been stuck on the front centre stud. usually just take the studs out if its being a cunt and then use the wood and hammer method :)

although we had one that was hanging from the crane by the rocker post with no head studs in at all yet it still wouldn't come off the block! was a goldseal engine that had been sat since 1987 until a few months back unused *happy*

if all else fails put the plugs back in and turn it over, just get ready to catch the head if you've still got the studs out

go and spend 5 hours looking for the one particular tool that will do the job, realise that you can't find it, go and buy another at great expense, casually walk up to the hanging engine and watch as it suddenly and for no reason splits

bloody sods law gets me every time
lol, didn't realise the engine was out of the car!
