Hello, I have tried searching. But didn't find exactly what I was looking for.

Have people drilled and tapped the regulator 1/8 bspt (tapered thread)

I know you can do it to the carb.

Any tips for sealing the fuel reg back together afterwards? As I've read they are prone to leaking.

So here is a bit of info for future searchers -

Cut off the push on fittings

Drill out to 21/64"

Use 1/8 28 BSPT tap

Then a fitting like this

And then this

These are for braided teflon (ptfe) hoses 8mm I.D

That is the conclusion I have come to after lots of research, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Also can you buy the completed braided hose that hoops over the carb on metro challenge carbs. To solve the problem of pressurised float chambers and overrunning.

Cheers

I would doubt many have bothered with such fittings....largely because there is no need and they are expensive.

Likewise with teflon hose, unless you're intending to use methanol or some fancy fuel that requires something other than rubber ?

If you really insist on doing this, using NPT would be the more common thread found on such fittings, and fittings will be easier to source.

Taking the reg apart is an easy task and you shouldnt have any problems with leakage from doing that alone.

think i someone asked about the reg fittings not to long ago think the answer was some kind of hose clamp look a like fitting or a compression fitting with an olive or something that went on to the barb?

Interesting you say npt is more widely used, there did seen to be more of those fittings. Although being national... Makes sense.

I am 100% using braided teflon hose because I am running the lines through the car.

Rubber fuel hose, even the proper j30 r6 stuff lets the fuel vapour "bleed" through so in a sealed space you can get wiffs of fuel. I've experienced this first hand and is quite a common complaint across car forums. The only fix is to use teflon hose. It must be made for fuels as it should have a coating inside to stop the build up of static.

I completly agree, they are expensive and over the top, but with teflon hose, using a olive type connector is the proper and safest way.

Cheers
