I am trying to find the o-rings that go between the calipers but it is turning out to be quite difficult as I am not sure what car the calipers are originally from. The calipers fit on standard vented metro turbo discs(mounted on a mini) yet they do not have the spacers that all? metro turbo calipers had and from the pictures I have been able to find of metro turbo calipers, they look slightly different. I tried ordering the o-rings for the metro turbo calipers but they are not the correct size(too large).

And before someone asks, the calipers are modified to fit inside 10" wheels using 8.4" discs *tongue*

IIRC there are two types of metro caliper A and B type...

Maybe this is what you are finding>?!

They look like metty calipers.

The problem is that those o-rings have the wrong shape and probably can't handle brake fluid either(If you're talking about the boxes I think you are). I also checked with a fairly large company that specializes in gaskets and they didn't have anything suitable either.

I read somewhere that the ERA mini had 4pot ap brakes, could these be from an ERA? Or did the era mini have the exact same brakes as the metro turbo..anyone?

They are the NON vented metro calliper. I've got a set at home.

They were fitted to plenty of metros, non MGs.

I personally think the vented disks are pointless, loads of extra weight.

I don't think rubber degrades in hydraulic oil, so any 'o' ring that fits should be fine.

I'd try a mini specialist for a laugh (Minispares?) or try a rover dealer. As a final thought, try a company that refurbs callipers. I don't know any though.

The only 4 pots brakes used are from the metro range.

There is apperently some difference between early cars and the vast majority of those made. I say apperently.... as in I haven't ever encounter it myself but I have read of people having problems with rebuild kits before.

All metros used 4 pots... same as on the ERA.

But then how is it possible that they fit on vented discs? Or are the vented discs supposed to fit on non vented calipers, but then why did the metro turbo have spacers between the calipers? *tired*

You are right Alex, there are two types of callipers. The one's in the photos are the more common 'later' type.

And yes Beeone, they are the vented type, just looked at mine and they are narrower. oops.

I guess the spacers were cheaper than seperate castings.

So, we've identified your callipers (even though you knew what the were) but not solved your problem

Sorry to bring up and old thread, but i have only just read it.

I recently purchased a set of metro 4 pots for vented disks. One side had a spacer and the other didnt but obviously they both fitted the vented disk.

They were purchased from motorserve in milton keynes but i dont know who the supplier was that refurbished them.

Your calipers are definetly metty turbo 4 pots
