Yeah si dash top n bottom n board itslef will all go in favour of centre clocks when it gets painted n new look next year they are only staying for now, same goes for doors, they are only having the wind up polycarbs until the makeover and will get swapped for the fg ones (altho the metal ones on now are drilled to hell at the bottom and weigh hardly anything stripped) the plan is/was to weigh n get times in fat mode at pod (done) then mid diet... n then fully stripped late next yr m

It's one of them things Dave,

Where do you want it to end?? As striped out cars are just that! Striped out?..

So if you want free weight lose get shot of-
.Both dash covers
.heater
.that dash
.all that wire
.trim the doors out
.Lose the door cards
.them alloy handles

These are just things that I can see from your pics you have posted, if you strip the car right down, then look at every thing that's in there, and say could that be lighter? Do I need it? Could it be made out of something else?

I think the best looking light cars are the ones you can not work out how they are so light, for instance when me and Chirs D was at the RWYB we had some bloke come over and started to tell us how our cars was fat and where we could make them lighter! So we sort of said pick a part and I we will point out how it's been made lighter!

Plus you sort of need a plan and stick to it, like me for instant is that I don't want to put C/F or F/G on the mk1.

I found some of my best weight lose was buy swapping 99 % of my bolts to Ti where I could.

I hope some of this, is of help to you I am by far not a expert but it's just what I have learnt along the way!

Simon.

You should have something to demist with for the MOT.

Although i've not heard anyone being pulled up on it. I'd recommend the rain-x fog repellent works wonders!

jonny f = I will run a very small car heater with ducting to the original windscreen vents, ive picked up the bottom radiator hose without the heater take of so I can now get rid of the heater and the sandwich plate in the thermostat housing.

I went to Stanford hall show and picked up an old elf dash so I can do away with top n bottom dash rails (and hide all the turbo gubbins n gauges in the drivers side glove box stELF style *wink*
I also got a pair of minifins and specialist components subframe tower bolts so my weightloss is now roughly sitting at -40kg *happy*

I unfortuneately didn't get any pics from Stanford hall show, but I did get a few pics from the ace café night-

they parked me blocking in the chefs car.. (well he weren't going anywhere till id had my chilli burger anyway *happy* )

I also unearthed this cell from my garage attic.. i brought it off shane YEARS ago when he was turboing his minus (now iains) but then changed plans n turbo'd his jet black.. it will be put into mine sometime next year when i get my new smaller battery and relocate it out of the tanks away

a pic i got off of my mate of me well infront *Clapping*

and also an old shot i found of me and my old 998 (and the mrs) back at the last showdown taken by the legend himself Mr Woods*tongue*

Not much to report on due to weather, xmas, new job and mot running out...

I thought id take the opportunity whilst its not mot'd n useable to sort out a little bit of bubbling rust..

door came off.. and even though a lot of metal is removed from it already and the windows are polycarb it still weighs LOADS more than I wish so the fibreglass doors may make an appearance sooner than planned

cleaned it all up to bare metal and gave it a good coat of zinc 182 and im happy how it came out

I think its roughly at -50 from when you weighed it, so roughly 640kg (i personally have lost a little body weight but not as much as you) i will want to do a rwyb when weathers better n see if it makes any difference even if its something, then ill put fg doors n fg boot on, remove the heater and fit my lighter seats and do another rwyb... am wanting one of your batterys but am waiting to see how people are getting on with them.. did yours start?

Hell yes!!! For example my mrs had got used to the minis power so was relaxed n used to know what was coming... i took her out in it not expecting any difference n when i approached our local 1 mile stretch of dual carriageway bypass i floored it n she was holding onto the bottom of the seat and her feet were firmly trying to push through the footwell.. she said 'shit me what ave u done to this?' All that from a a bit of weightloss 😆 not only does it get up n go that bit better.. n take less time to get there but it also rolls that more freely and feels more nimble round corners! Shes said 'right, thats enough now ok?' Pfffftt yeah right! Not till ive lost double that again! 😉

Cheers guys glad ya like it *happy*

i just used a wire wheel on a grinder to get thru paint and rust used a sander to sand the lip down between good paint and bare metal, once i was happy the rust was gone i used zinc 182 rust preventative and primer i got it from local car shop was about a fiver its a small tin but goes along way!, i just brushed that on- nice fat layer then once it was dry just sanded out any imperfections and then sprayed on hammerites black stonechip (it comes out real nice like a black board, then just keyed that down and masked up by folding back half the masking tape on areas i wanted blended in so you dont get a hard line, then just sprayed gloss black and left it to dry between weekends, now i have to admit it looked pretty crap at this point n i was a little disapointed BUT once id wet sanded it and all the blended areas back n compounded it all and buffed it up i was well happy! Amazing what wet sanding n polishing does! ( the first picture on this thread, the white mini with black roof and arches, believe it or not was all done with rattle cans!! And then wet sanded and polished *wink* ) once the bits start to go back on you cant really tell new paint to old

so.... not much of an update BUT it did pass its MOT with flying colours! my mot tester was very impressed with it and the one thing I was worried about was the emissions test, the last thing I wanted was to mess around with its set up just to pass.. but I didn't have to cos as soon as the probe went up the exhaust they all pinged to green and he said he was impressed how quick it did it!

so instead of any repairs and a retest which I was expecting I just spent a couple hours wet sanding and compounding! very happy! ill let the pics speak for themselves...

before

after

just a few little odds and sods and a oil and filter change ready for this at the end of the month *happy*

and I found my doors and pulled them out the shed so I can get them ready to go on.. not sure theyre light enough though?
