a bit off topic I know, but can anyone help me with a cisco problem I have. I'm doing something silly but if I type

"sh running-config"

then my config is shown, but on startup the router does not use this config, it uses the default.

the router is a 1721 running IOS version 12.4

It's a while since I've touched our routers, but from what I remember we do a write erase to clear the current config, then switch to enable mode, paste the config in, do a write mem then finish with a reload. We use 2600's
