hi wondering if i could do some brain picking, basically i have a temp pronlem as in my water temp reaches 100 deg c and i know this is not the sort of temp i want, avon bar say most of there cars only really reach 70 deg c and i have a similar spec, i am running a standard spec metro turbo engine with ali two core radiator and elecy fan, dont knoe if this makes a difference but have no inner wings. when i am going round town and on boost quite a bit it only really reaches 90 deg c but as soon as i go and cruise at 60 it goes just bellow 100 say 96 as i cant read my dial that accuratly. was wondering if there is any thing that any one can suggest that might be a problem, i advanced my timing a bit and that helped some as temp was reaching 110 before i did that, i am going stir crazy as it is going to be even worse in hot weather, no air locks and running a blanking thermostate or sleeve as its called, would plumming the heater wrong cause a problem with flow ? ill tell you its the heat soak from the turbo which is getting bloody hot due to a lean mixturer or even a rich mixture will cause this, mine was like it untill i got her set up on the rollers and hey presto all sorted, but i did have a extra rad from the heater take of as well. always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas |

also put in a 74 deg thermo stat as them blanking sleves are shit and causes all sorts of probs, and yes i did try one as well and found it made things worse and not better. always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas |

so if your fuel mixture is too rich, your engine will run hotter?? On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:

Generally, running lean will cause the engine to run hot as the fuel cools the engine. On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:
Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem. |

i now my mixture is rich so will lean it off a bit, only running an elecy fan so no worry bout the two fighting each other there. will get a 74 degree thermostate and see if that solves any thing if not i seems the only other thing is to get a second rad to help things. but its strange that it only gets hot while cruising and not round town when it should be getting hoter from not enought air flow but i will check stuff out cheers for the input guys "Can I legally marry people now that I am ordained in the Church of the SubGenius?" aka i know jack sh"t

handy trick i used to use on my 1380 (and i know other people use it amongst other methods) is to take a feed from your heater tap port and pipe it straight into your rad or into the 90 deg pipe that goes into the rad. Only trick is to make sure you don't lift the pipe above the height of the header in the rad, |

tryed a bit of mixture messing and some timing but no avail so off to the rollers i think best and most cost affective thing next, could sort out the problems so off i go, yes i have an oil coler and oil temp is staying where it should be eg about 80 degree "Can I legally marry people now that I am ordained in the Church of the SubGenius?" aka i know jack sh"t
