I found that most of the calipers i've stripped with chrome plated pistons, the chrome is a bit crusty. Crusty pistons wont seal vwry well On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
Is it A-Series only? I think it should be... So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'... On 26th Oct, 2004 Tom Fenton said:

the pistons are all in good condition, found the issue.. which must have been my fault but i didnt force anything in and as previously suggested i used brake fluid to lubricate the pistons for assembly..

When i fitted mine (albeit 2 pots) i bought brand new stainless pistons too and it was fine except i ballsed up a metal ring and had to buy another, never had a leak from those. On 26th Jan, 2012 Tom Fenton said:
ring problems are down to wear or abuse but although annoying it isn't a show stopper On 5th Aug, 2014 madmk1 said:

the pistons are in very good condition so its not those, have brought new seals and will try again, ensuring that the seals are the right way about |

make sure its the correct grease for the seals, its usually red, but we had turquoise stuff in work, but aye, normal grease will knacker the seals and react with brake fluid. turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

stevie, which way are the seals meant to go in? you say they are directional but they look pretty semetrical to me.. On almost all seals there is a slight taper. This makes it easier to push the piston back in when building the calipers, and is the direction it should be installed. At least that's how they were many years ago, I'd assume they havent changed. 9.85 @ 145mph
