Anybody had any experience with Cometic style head gaskets to lower compression ratios. I'm hoping to lower my CR slightly to allow a little more boost. I'm currently using a AF460 gasket due to the the alloy head. I've noticed a 120thou gasket is available for 1275cc, but what about 1380cc. A 60thou compressed gasket would be perfect.

I know cometic used to be good, I'd hazard a guess people stopped using them due to the price over a bk450

why do you need to use an af460 on an alloy head? I'm using a bk450, with an alloy head and 28psi boost, no issues.

I was told by Specialist components to only use the AF460, due to the fire rings on the BK450. To be fair I did use the BK450 on my Webcon alloy head.

the fire ring are a slightly larger diameter on the 460 so theres less chance of the piston clipping the gasket than with the 450.

what i dont understand is why the minis dont have dowels or something to locate the head and block...
that would allow things to be is the correct places every time giveing peace of mind when putting big bore heads on small bore blocks for instance or where big valve sizes/lift is used creating clearance Delmar altho probaly not a big deal unless its 16v?

well im off track now...
