Hey lads

Building my 998 up no boost, I wanna make the 998 fairly quick, better than the 34 bhp at the wheels. What standard rev limit is and what would spec below be able to take?
Spec
Minispares flat top high compression plus 60
A plus block
Sw5 cam shaft
Balanced rods
Balanced crank
12g202 head standard
Minispares lightened flywheel
Standard 4 speed with 3.44 fd and x pin diff
Sc fuel injection

Anything else am I gonna need and what rev limit will I be safe to run? Thanks

It will only rev so far with that cam. The power band might drop off at at say 6k but it might rev up to 7k, but its pointless holding into that and revving for the sake of it

Right that's cool, what about oil will that keep up? With the higher rpm?

If your set on revving that high, you might want to look at a different cam and get the head sorted ( valves and ported)

Plus remember valve springs

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I agree, the cam is not a revver. 7k is no problem for the standard bottom end.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

On most of the 998s we have built we have put on the 12G940. heads are cheaper and more available.

In one NA 998 with a 276 cam and 940 head it pulled hapily past 7k and would hit 8k. On the turbo we normally shift between 7k and 7.5k.

The mini of my little stepsister has the same setup with a compression of 12,5 on each cilinder and twin carb... must say its pretty fast for a 998.

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

The piston circlips are the limiting factor.

I would not go higher than 6k without putting some buttons in.
