Hi peeps'
I really am at my wits end with the problems I'm seem to have had since my turbo mini restore.
My next issue is that I seem to be burning out the fuel pumps?i have tried the red top facet, the high pressure injection sytec pump, demon tweeks recommended high pressure pump and now my old pump (xr2i) which I used before my mini restore. Any ideas? Electrics are not my strong point so I paid a well qualified vehicle Electrian to re wire my mini. I can no longer get hold of this guy to have a look what the problem is. Has anyone else had this happen? Please help
*indifferent*

Red top is no where near good enough, an in line injection pump is what you need really, vaux caviler pump iirc works well.

-Rover 100 VVC #2 - track project

just checking you do have a return line, thinking that the excess pressure can go somewhere rather then pushing against a closed door. just a thought.

oh and +1 for the above yo need an injection pump.

Were the pumps new?

Hi
Other than the facet pump they have all been high pressure injection pumps capable of supplying fuel for 500bhp engines,
I have a return line.
I think it could be more like air in the system causing the pump to run dry or maybe I need to regulating the power going to the pump , but as I stated before I'm rubbish on electrics?!! Arh

Is the pump mounted below the tank ? They're gravity fed.

Draw a schematic of how your fuel system is configured

The pump is mounted midway between the fuel tank I would say. I have a10 ltr alloy fuel tank. I am currently have a new larger alloy tank made with baffles. Could my current tank being as tiny as it is be causing a fuel surge to the pump? I will try and upload a pic of my set up. Thanks for everyone's help

It needs to be mounted below the lowest point of the tank, so it's always fed.

Hi Phil I will have a crack at repositioning the pump below the tank and shortening the fuel hose length as much as possible from the tank to the pump. I have also been suggested moving the fuel filter to before the pump rather than after it

Get a couple of filters. Better safe than sorry.

One just before the carb and one before the pump.

Again, draw a schematic detailing all items. Pipe sizes etc.

Only install a filter pre-pump if it is suitable for the pump in use. Never restrict it with a crappy filter not designed for the flow's involved with an efi type pump.

And always give the pump a nice big free gravity feed, no restrictions.
