turbo carb ?
or is it a bigger version ?
I assume it's basicly the same size since the plenium fit's the metro turbo carb

I'm pretty sure its the same carb... although as you say the plenum is bigger as the Montego ran an intecooler :)

Same carb, but i suspect it ran a larger main jet. Burlens would be able to confirm this...
It also used an electronic choke, but this can easilly be 'manualised' with std HIF bits

The plenum (and hence the restrictor tube) was the same for all versions. Only difference here was a stronger spring for the pressure relief valve and the different plenum snout.

a mate is thinking of budget turboing a mk1 escort and the only info found so far show's the montego carb and plenium etc ...
and since I have a spare metro carb and plenium I thought maybe use that I figured a re jet will deffintaly be in order
it smell's like a plan comeing toghether *wink*

Forgotten more than most ever know

Montegos used HIF44E carbs (FZX 1496, FZX 1440 and FZX 1501). Maestro turbo had HIF 44E (FZX1496). All had JZX 1088 green spring. Needle valve and jet same as Metro.
