Just wondering if my compression is good, it showed 12.5 bar /181psi on 2x cylinders and 13bar/188psi on other two . It's a 998cc done 100k .

Would I be able to add a turbo to this engine if I changed oil, water pump etc with some new bearings and add a new x pin diff ,change the head for lower compression .

There's no reason it can't be Turbo'd. Have a look here for a guide to a simple conversion:

I would not be turboing a 100k power unit without full rebuild.

Good compression for such a high mileage really.

Is it a no go for a turbo then as I have a t2 mounted on a metro manifold ready to go . I've always been told the 998cc are bullet proof little engines .

I know the mileage is high but it's been serviced every 6k from new . And would change bearings , thrust washers , head , water /oil pump , new clutch , gearbox x pin diff .

At the end of the day, if the bottom end goes pop, its just a standard 998 to replace. I'd give it a go.

Northamptonshire.

Had a leak down test done? that give a better reading over a compression test to how is leaking past valves and piston rings.

Local garage norm can do them just give it a google but basicly move piston to TDC and fill with air and then watch how much gauge moves down that give a good indercation to the state of the rings valves and gaksets

Betwix Harrogate and York

with those results and you know otherwise it runs fine, just do it.

I did it on a 70k engine, as linked to above, no problem. Just don't go silly on boost. 8 to 10 psi max.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Wil how long did your last before it went bang , and would a x pin and new gearbox ,new clutch be an idea for 100bhp and of course swap the head (12g295 ),mg metro cam will this get the power . And will it get into high 7 seconds region . I have a mini city 92 stripped about 40kg from it and run 13" wheels .
