I think the opinion was, Megajolt is the better system as its direct from the crank rather than off the cam.

The advantages are that it's easy to install (two wires) and keeps the engine bay looking standard (if that's what you want).

It's infinitely better than a dizzy, especially if you are turboing.

The disadvantage is that because the map is not a true 10x10 table, it's compromised in being able to run low advance on boost and high advance on cruise.

would it be a good place to start from in the mappable world for a turbo on std up to 15psi of boost? as you say it infinitely better than a dizzy, but for 150 quid atm feels cheap to me over megajolt in the same boost range. maybe its also away of limting how much power you can make if your internals arnt the best, thats how i thought about it so far.

More a way of making your not so good internals fail sooner IMHO. For the money, megajolt is fantastic and makes life so much simpler.

Yes, you'll be able to amp the 'on-boost' section very well, limiting advance. And you can do a decent job of getting the off boost and idle right too

it says that the advance is locked up in the dizzy first, how would they go about doing that? once done would it be irreversible?

depends how you do it. I welded mine, but I'm sur it could be done in a reversible way.

Or just look around for cheap one to plunder. I might even have one you can have.
