Just rebuilding my gearbox for the first time.

well, although ypu had it in 1st and 3rd, thaat wouldnt have damaged this, you must have had it in reverse as well.

The meshing from input/first motion shaft to the layshaft seems to be inline though, so whats causing the rest to be out? somink not right

I see what you mean. Probably the main bearing not seated right. I wouldn't have seen it slip with the block attached. Definitely something to look out for when I put it back together. BHP sells engines, but Torque wins races! |

Whilst undoing a gearbox i've had teeth shear off and come at me like bullets due to a knackered bearing. Top tip cover the box with a blanket when undoing the mainshaft bolts |
