Put the car in gear and see if it will turn the engine over, obvious check but it's a basic start.

If while on the jack, make sure one wheel is on the ground while turning the other by hand

Is this a fresh build? Could be lots of things, but if so I reckon it'll be something pretty fundamental such as flywheel loose, idler gear missing, clutch plate missing, final drive pinion missing etc etc |

I would be inclined to leave the engine off, put it in 4th gear, push the car and see if this turns the engine over. This will cause less damage if (for instance) the flywheel is spinning on the crank. In the 13's at last!.. Just |

I assume you have started the mini ? so cant see the flywheel spinning on the crank.

Forgot to fit the idler gear? I cant think of anything other than the flywheel which isnt doweled or keyed so it would provide(some) drive even if it was loose. turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

If you have installed the clutch plunger wrong it can hold the clutch disengaged all the time. Take the wok off sprag the engine in place with a lump of wood and try again see if you then have drive .

Try it yourself. If you jack the front of the car up and turn one wheel it just goes round without turning the diff. This is why minis wheel spin the left wheel and leave the right wheel pretty much stationary. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

You need a live that doesn't drop out on cranking but you already know this.

You should be taking feed from second ignition click, thick white wire coming from the ignition barrel. On 26th Jan, 2012 Tom Fenton said:
