I am looking to renew my breakdown cover, and don't want any of the frills offered by the main players like home start and mis fueling.

2 points: have you got any breakdown cover with your bank account? Some people don't realise they do.

The last 3 years the aa has pretty much price matched for me and we are looking at £100+ less than the renewal I have no frills of any type with my bank account. Green flag weren't interested when trying to negotiate my renewal, RAC didn't want to move on price, and I'm sure the AA won't be any different. I thought it would be worth seeing if any of the lesser known firms still offered good service for a reasonable cost. On 7th Oct, 2010 5haneJ said:

Careful with Greenflag, only just found out my personal cover. Won't cover the mini as it's too old. Luckily this was at renewal rather than when it was needed. |

I've got cover with my bank but it's basic so I wouldn't even bother relying on it because they will only take you 10miles or something silly like that. Then I've got breakdown cover on my insurance which is only £60 a year or something like that and pretty much takes me where I want to go, euro cover, home start ect but they will not pay to drain your tank after filling it with the wrong fuel! They don't die, they just get faster! |

careful with breakdown cover on banking policies. when i called HSBC out for mine they said that they only cover cars under 15 years of age or something like that. they still came to collect me and i've had no issues with them at all A++ service. I couldnt find anything in my policy either about age so think just had a fool on the phone.

I'm with autoaid, which is a pay and claim back breakdown service. £39 a year for full recovery and home start for personal cover. Never had cause to use it, but I've not seen any bad reports when i looked into it. |
