We are fitting out the interior on the Mini 30 re-shell project.

Went to fit the air intake pipe and there is no stub *frown*

Anyone one else come across this on later shells?

Solution?

It's not fitted on my **cough cough** 1979 shell (SPi was common in '79 wasn't it?).

Should be easy enough to insert a steel tube of appropriate diameter in there

You would have though it would be a simple job but the hole is 80mm and the internal diameter of the plastic pipe is about 82.5. So not standard pipe sizes.

How is the SPi pipe fitted then?

I only have the shell.

Looking on the minispares site, the inlet thingy in the inner wing changed around 1992. It's likely that they put the connector onto that rather than the shell.

Thanks Andy.

Yes, it would appear that the inlet "thingy" is different on the later cars.

Now on the hunt for a bit of thick wall plastic pipe to turn down.

Might be easier just to stick that in. Slight inconvenience today, but by the time you've found stock and turned it down there's probably not much difference.

I've come to the same conclusion. Problem now is getting Axel to part with some cash :)
