also isn't it important that the engine is at TDC so the c washer doesn't drop and wedge the flywheel?

it could also be installed at bdc if im not mistaken mate |

when we built my first lump pa showed me how to lap (just like a intake/ex valve) the wheel to match the crank to ensure a good fit works a treat so far..

The C washer wont lock the flywheel solid on the crank. It can drop a little on the Verto center and catch in a groove designed to drain oil away from the friction faces, but the flywheel has at least had to break free from the crank first. On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
