Im currently looking for an oil thermostat, but they all seem to have 'push on' fittings for rubber hoses...

I.e.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...7990229540&rd=1

can you get them with threaded ends to fit my braided hoses?

also, where do you guys put your oil temp sensors?

Cheers in advance

The thing about these thermostats is that they open too early. The open at 70 degrees, and should relly not open until 100 or so. Still beats NOT having one, but the plumbing is horrendous. I did have one, NEVER again.

I'd go with the metro water to oil cooler, they warm your oil up when cold!

I bought an upgrage kit from Mocal -Aeroquip which replaced the 70° stat wit an 92° stat.
Now i am keeping the oil in the 92-100°C area.

I used to run a metro type oil-water cooler. I found that it used to actually warm the oil up more quickly than normal from a cold start.
When cruising, or round town it kept the oil maybe a _shade_ too cool at around 80-90deg, but when driving the car hard, it wasn't up to the job of keeping the temperature down, I once saw 115deg.
Personally I prefer the oil-air coolers.

thats about what i expected,

I have one on my 1380 daily driver, running an 88 stat is seems to do the job, especialy as i'm only a few miles from work (with out it the oil never got anywhere near warm!)

mind you with a turbo your oil will warm up pretty quick.

ive got one from avonbar that fits inbetween oil filter and housing then has 2 pipes with srew on conections (think same thread as oil cooler) but the pipes have to come off forwards so you might struggle in a roundnose.

not a clue about temps tho*smiley*

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Don't know if this is in the cat - my invoice says "made to special order" so better give them a call.

Felt too rich today so plumped for this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...:B:EOIBSA:UK:31

It was as if someone had tailor made that auction for me, as I needed the remote filter setup so I can use the front rad.

Still to order the thermostat upgrade kit, but gonna wait and see how this one performs first.

Now need an oil temp guage so I can do some testing. Will let you guys know how it gets on, probably be about easter before I can get anything done.
