The rebuild kit is mainly components of the "core", as that's where the bearing(s) and at least one of the shaft seals are.

From the original description it's not clear whether the T2 or GT15 core was used, only which compressor and which turbine was used.

Is there any identifying mark on the core casting that might tell which it is or maybe someone on here who can just look at the photo (I'm not familiar with the T2/GT15, I'm used to the T3/GT17 so I would just be guessing).

Or take it apart and it will be obvious, the T series use two small bearings at each end of the core and the GT series uses a single sleeve bearing the full length of the core.

But even knowing that, you will need more than a standard kit as he said it has a 360 degree large pad thrust bearing - the standard thrust bearing (which is what will be in a standard kit) will either only be a 270 degree one or will have smaller pads (thrust faces) on the collars from that description. Some "upgrade" kits do include the larger thrust bearings but you would really need to see it apart first to see which one it has had fitted.

And if it's a T2 core you might need the GT15 compressor shaft seal (as that seal is not normally in the core, but usually in the compressor housing) unless Garret used the same part on both models.
