Quick question.

What methods do people use to seal the ports into the block and head?

I understand loctite is one?

If you mean for threaded plugs I'd use a bit of gasket sealant smeared round to plug before you fit it

Ahh yeah I know what you mean now, just gasket sealant as everyone else has said, or for that extra bit of heavy duty you could tiger seal them lol.
