could this work to create a rwd mini of sorts? the wheelbase is the same and parts are readily available.

just a out loud thought but i have seen a lot of chassis swaps on cars recently and it seems pretty cool.

no I have not *smiley*.

only thought of midget as its the same wheel base as the mini, the mx5 one was pritty cool but 9" longer chassis or 5" longer than an estate.

The Midget is monocoque,so no chassis, but the floor/trans tunnel and sills could be used, probably need an elongated nose to get the rad in.

'Where does the engine go?'

How about a land rover chassis with mini body? 4 wheel drive, no problems with deep puddles causing cut outs and no arsehole tailgating as you're little and he has a small cock and a big car to make up for it

Not really a pointless thread, its like using a space frame or something like that really, midget came to mind because of wheel base, but you could do an a-series front engine rear wheel drive space frame in a round nose body. Nor really any differnt than a engine swap, as long as it looks like a mini.

Yes it is different but an idea, personally I quite like chassis or floor swaps. The mk1 escort subaru thing, beetle/mk1 golf body drop.

get what your saying there,

depends really why your doing it, as a project to look good and maybe a few skids it would be sweet but your a decent handling rwd mini youd be far better starting from scratch imo

Looking at my midget I can see how this could be done but I can only think of one person capable of doing the conversation and he's already voiced his opinion.

I remember going to a kitcar show and seeing the reverse of your idea being done by a guy called Paul Banham (he's done some piss poor conversions). He'd chopped a mini about to look like a frogeye sprite

i can see why you've come up with the idea paul but I'd have thought if your going to all the effort, you would be better looking at a more modern base, particularly if you space frame it. Would be good to see the A series still used though
