Yep i ran out of petrol on my way to fill up *Clapping* and now the sodding thing wont start even will plenty of petrol in it.

Once or twice it did fire up but for a second or two then it sounded like a misfire and died off.

Things i have done/checked:

Getting fuel
Strong spark
Charged battery
New HT leads (all get good spark)

Compression is similar to the results i got the other day in the "burning oil" thread although lower but this could be to do with the oil that was in the bored has now been cleaned out or burnt out.

I took the carb apart thinking it could have been dirt that was dragged through and blocked the carb. But this was fine.

Its just strange i was running fine before it conked out!

Just to make sure my coil pack is connected up 1 4

Connector

2 3

It seems like a ignition problem to me but I'm not sure how to check the timing.

Nick, how old is the engine? If its been around the roundabout a few times it's possible it jumped time.

Not very old since i rebuilt it. Its only done 200 miles so far.

I did think it could be badly flooded. How would i check this? Hopefully should clear over night if so.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

air locked pump maybe ? or stuck float jet is the probable cause

How often do you have to do that? Can't be very dignified squatting over the engine!

Lol John.

Gave the carb a good clean out last night of all the shit in it.

I noticed something very wrong this morning that the dip stick smelt of fuel, badly flooded? going to dump this oil out tonight to make sure.

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve
MITP 2012 17.01 seconds 1/4 mile against "The Don"
MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

Sounds like it heavily flooded then, leave the plugs out while you swap the oil to the it vent

13.95 1/4 mile on a 2.95 fd. Carnt be that hard to beat!

All i can imagine now is Joe trying to get under the bonnet some how with the dashpot off giving it one hell of a push!

Will do eden, cant understand how it flooded so quickly when it didn't have fuel in long.

Take the bottom off the carb and make sure float is working properly. Must be jammed.

Sounds you've filled the engine with petrol as fast as the fuel pump can get it through the carb, check your plenum isn't full of it too.

See you at 4ish for your oil delivery! lol Might be worth flushing some cheap crap through again though to get rid of any fuel contamination?
