I'm looking into fitting a VW TDi lump into a Mini Scamp - for something a bit different!!

Ive found a few posts on the net about people taking about fitting a diesel into a mini but cant find anyone who actually done it. Can anyone help?

scamp mk1, mk2, or mk3?
I seem to remember a guy fitting a 1.7 isuzu turbo diesel from an astra van years ago will try to find the topic that was in to round-nose.

If youve got a mk2 or 3 i cant see it being a major hassle beyond the usual subframe fabrication/modification if its a mk1 you might struggle for room....

to be honest I've had thoughts of doing a diesel conversion to be a little different, perhaps one of the small 1.4 3cyl VW units. There was a little chat about something on 16v forum but I don't think the guy followed it up.

I saw one in a blue clubby estate at L2B 2009 or 2008.

No idea what engine it was though!

not yet. I was suggesting getting the spaceframe etc then search scrapyards for the ducati engine. It will probably cost a bomb tho as its not very old but its meant to be a beast and apparently to much for a bike unless its purely for long distance so sounds perfect for car conversions. I'll dig out an article on it

I may have seen the same 1. Was it the 1 that came out of a metro? Our kid had a diesel metro and I thought it was a bloody awful engine....very basic and old school

With the size of todays modern small diesels I would have thought its as simple as anyother engine swap, you may be lucky anb be able to drop one straight into one of the 16v subframes such ass allspeed, watsons or kjbfabrications
