After having to sell my last mini due to cash issues resulting from my wedding, I have a new mini! She's an 1960 MK1 superdeluxe. 850cc 47K on the clock! Needs a new front end and may change the sills too. Interiors in good nick though.

Its surf blue, i fancy a set of grey rose petals and a old english white roof!

The question is, shall I turbo it or just restore it?!! I don't really want to cut the bulk head on the old girl!
A 998 turbo takes my fancy though. Any ideas?!

Choppo *wink*

Hannibal: There are two ways we can do this: the easy way and the hard way. In a few minutes my friends and I are going to come down on you like your worst nightmare. You're gonna wish the Earth had opened up and swallowed you whole.
bad guy: What's the easy way?
Hannibal: That WAS the easy way.

I'm having the same issues with my 1960 woody. At the moment the plan is to put a cooper S spec engine in it, that way I can always put it back original at a later date. If you are really careful, you could cut out the bulkhead and keep it to weld back in at a later date if you really were that bothered

At the end of the day, its your car

Don't ruin a 1960 shell! If you go for turboing, do it so it can be reversed later. It's worth more in original condition than as turboed anyday.

And once it's done, the car loses £2000 of its value....

Mirage or custom manifold shoudo the trick and keep your bulkhead tidy. I'm planning on mounting my turbo over the clutch.

At the end of the day its a car made to be driven, if you put the bulkhead box in you will be havin a huge smile when the boost comes in and you should be able to do it cheaper than the mirage kit!
