Any one on here use one?

whilst browsing i came across this video

the Ctec msx 5.0 has anyone tryed one of these chargers?
its the price of a cheap lead acid battery but trying to see if its worth buying one rather than a battery *happy*

un hook them through winter and never work again, the last mini battery came in side as i thought it was cold killing them and it still died, the bosch warranty came in usefull for those, the cold and snow a couple years back the killed volvo battery
and i have one thats tests fine holds charge but cant crank an engine that my bench supply for ms2/3 *tongue*
they were all bosch except the 'genuine' volvo one

I killed several batteries over the years, until i realised that Gel/optima type batteries need a different charger.

Bought a ctek 5.0 recently and revived a gel batt I thought I'd killed, and seemed to help a couple of normal batteries I had.

They can't work miaracles though. I tired to revive one really knackered battery, but it was past it...

Wish I'd known about them years ago, as ( years ago when I used to play with serious car hifi) i killed a few optimas with traditional chargers...

Too many projects!

In my old job (working with skylines almost constantly) we would fit these https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaSb-HYqh6o

so customers could plug em in over the winter or that. chose them as at the time they were the only small, smart charger that didnt appear to be cheap burst-into-flames shite from china.

we have had them revive batterys too.

Denis you probably know then skylines seem to bequite heavy on the batterys for some daft reason any theory on why? Skylines in general seem to have a low charge voltage13.8-14v ish could this be the cause?

always just put it down to heavy parasitic draw and tiny little battery's. i mean the battery is the same size (give or take) as that used in a honda jazz, yet has to start a 2.5/.6 litre engine via ~2.5m of cabling. if a battery was good itd be fine, but you couldnt leave it sitting for months without a charger due to parasitic draw(unless it had a kill switch), and you couldnt start the car for a week solid just to run it in and out of the workshop. was a real issue for us in that respect, to the point where we would run a skyline up to temp every time we started it even if it was just getting moved out the workshop to give the battery a fighting chance (and prevent flooding on the big HP ones). Ment puttng fuel in the cars regularly but still cheaper than a battery, and saved teh hassle of pulling and cleaning sparkplugs every other day.

if we knew a car would be sitting, it got a full charge, and then the battery disconnected.

Cheers Denis

Charger turned up today its tested the battery and passed it now onto charging phase
the destructins Indicate its just in a deep state of discharge from what I can find on internet these batteries need 16-18v to pull them out of it skylines
