im having a clearout of parts not required and came across this. looks to be an HS carb of some sort.

is anyone able to id this for me please? thanks, dan

second picture the shaft that the throttle plate slots through diameter of that hole, im gonna guess 1 1/4 inch from a 998

HIF38 has a 38mm choke
HIF44 ...44mm simples :)

1.5 inch would be the 38, 1 3/4 would be the 44

there isnt a hif as small as the hs4 ( as far as i know ) at least not on minis *happy*

It's an HS4 1½" = HIF38.
The HIF38 is technically smaller than an HS4 - 1½" is 38.1mm.
I suspect, however, that the HIF38 is just a renamed HIF4 (which I can't be bothered to go and dig out of the loft to measure).

The 1¼" HS2 has vertical mounting bolts not diagonal ones.

Metric is for people who can't do fractions.
