Hi. What is the difference between the 38 with and the 38 without vacuüm on the flange?

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...

if you can get a picture i will be able to say more positively

but i think the vacuum on the flange bit is a part throttle lean off- take off same as hif44 turbo carb...

yes quite sure it is the part throttle lean off, you can use it or just block it like most do with turbo carbs :)

Well... i have a mini 998 coming in at the weekend with a hif44 on it. He wants to swap it with a 38. Now is the question wich one of the 2 would be the best one to use? And if i use the one with the throttle lean of ( and not block it) how does it work? Where to connect and what does it?

It's not that you need to look at, its the vacuum take off for the distributor vac advance.

there are two different types and its all to do with the location of the vac take off in relation to the throttle edge. Manifold depression and throttle edge depression.

Manifold depression is just that, it is the depression that the engine experiences whatever the throttle position.

Throttle edge depression is the depression just before the throttle at its most closed position.....The area right on the throttle edge after the piston, but just ever so slightly before the throttle. This has the effect of changing the sensed vacuum as the throttle moves and adds another 'dimension' to the distributor advance curve.

Is it enough of a difference to be noticeable, i'm not sure, but if you intend to use it for the MAP sensor of Megajolt, it won't read 'correct' at closed and part throttle.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Looking at it from that angle its for the pcv system. The spi throttle body has the very same, a large stub withe a small hole in the middle
