Hope some of you guys could help. Im currently building a full race 970s 16v engine and need a measurement from a BMW K conversion if possible. Im actually halfway through fitting a head from a japanese sports bike and its all looking very promising so far. It has now come to the point where ill be sorting the cam timing. I'm very keen on keeping the head 100% standard which means i'll have to convert the bottom end to run a timing chain. This isnt an issue but i wont be writing off the idea of converting the head to run a conventional cambelt with vernier pulleys if its easier/cheaper. I have a bottom pulley and jackshaft pulley from a previous BMW conversion I did which I might beable utilise. I just need to know the outside diameter of the typical vernier pulley on a K conversion. A

Not to worry. Just found the bottom pulley and worked it out at around 114mm. Timing chain it is then! Edited by Oldskoolbaby on 10th Jun, 2014. |
