so my understanding is a full roller set is a good idea to reduce side loading on valve guides right or at least thats one reason id like to use them in the build other is my pressed steel ones are a bit sad..

was thinking std 1.3 ratio was what i want?
not really looking for high lift ones unless it will go along side my MD274 cam?

that leads me to ask what are you guys using? full or half rollers? brands?

o yeah its a small bore im aware there is a difference?

thought id seen a set break around the adjuster?

just gathering thoughts really atm

the MD274 is a kent cam is it not? im sure i read some where there profiled for 1.3:1 rockers
MED mini spares or swiftune would get my first vote i like the idea of solid spacers rather than springs to hold them in place ( maybe others have a different opinion? )
small bore have different spacing, its been years since i played with a small bore head but i think the big bore rockers can be respaced if you can make spacers
ones i have seen break have nipped a valve and clipped a piston never heard of one just breaking but parts do fail so not saying it can happen

imo full roller rockers are not really needed, most people just get the roller tip rockers

1.3:1 rockers will be great with a small bore. Avoid the 1.5s, too much lift.

They will need spacing and re-ordering on the shaft. Before:

After:

Note the position of the rollers within the arms. Nearer to the post in each case.

I have run roller tips on 1.5 ratio for years, having previously run forged 1.5s. The reduction in guide wear is dramatic. I would think 1.3s would be best on a small bore though.

ok so 1.3 ration is what i want and not so necessary to have full rollers ether is a small bore set as im sure i could sort the reordering and spacing

i like the look of those med ones paul i take it they are half roller? ie bushed shaft roller tip

anyone know why mini spares charge so much aside from being full rollers surely its not such a big deal to change out the bushes for rollers?

http://www.minispares.com/product/Classic/...k%20to%20search

http://www.med-engineering.co.uk/catalogue...-1-3-rocker-set

would there be bang for buck in getting full rollers? i think at basically dubble the price ill go half..
as in do the shaft rollers wear better than the bush also is there much friction difference
im assuming there is quite a bit and the reduced losses allow lighter springs for given rpm in my case aprox 6.2k max perhaps there isnt that much in it at low rpm like ill be using

paul im assuming the posts dont change there position just the bushes/arms looks like the center spacer is made smaller and some thin ones between post and arm?

Yes, cut the spacers down and put in some large washers. I think they're about 60 thou or 1.5mm thick.

Then re-arrange the rockers to suit.

Calver did a write up, but I can't find it.

just looking at options at this stage want to get the bottom end sorted first then ill cover the deck suffice and do the head as a separate deal i dont care to add more troubles to the build at this point!

is there really much different in friction regarding the bush/roller for the shaft?

They are all insanely expensive. Name me one anodised after market upgrade that is not insanely expensive. I swear the next most expensive thing in my life second to my house is that damn mini.
