When I fit the turbo, I have the advantage that the shell is going to be stripped for shot blasting, rust repair and a respray - so any modifications will be easier.

I'm just trying to figure out where to put the intercooler and air filter.

I was thinking about putting the air filter where the dizzy normally would be to draw cold air, rather than it being mounted at the back near the turbo/exhaust manifold.

As for intercooler, I was thinking about fitting it on the driver side inner wing with a "grille" cut in - like this, but driver side to get the cold air through:

Or, possibly fitting it under the driver side wing with some holes cut in the inner wing to run the pipes through. Not sure how it would stand up to the wheels chucking water at it all the time though?

Any thoughts on which would be best? I have Megajolt and a servo, and will be running the standard plenum, but with the input pipe re-welded to point forwards rather than downwards. Car will be a daily driver. Want to keep engine bay as clutter free as possible to keep under-bonnet temps down and make servicing/repairing easier.

I use a small alternator and the intercooler in the front...

That's neat! Is that a TDI intercooler? Does it block much airflow through the grille?

Also, where are you fitting your air filter?

The intercooler it´s from an Peugeot 307 2.0 HDI.

The air filter for now it´s in the usual place, but i´m planning to make a box like the ERA Turbo...

Now that's the kind of thing I was thinking about to save some room in the engine bay! Very neat!

Does it get enough airflow there? As efficient as front mount?

I've not had it running yet but i think it was Turbo Tim that had a side mount intercooler and he said it worked perfectly fine. There are also those who have run a side mount rad without a mechanical fan which also worked fine. Then of course there were the factory jap spec minis with air con which also worked fine. So i think it might be ok but i did go for the largest most efficient cooler to offset any inefficiencies due to its location. Its also painted black :p
