As above looking for ideas as to strengthening the shell needs loads of welding panel replacement anyway. Flat boot floors rubbed or replaced rear arches custom floors ect ect any pics or links to such projects would be great I have looked on relevant sections but not found anything yet thanks |

Have a look at builds such as Paul Wiginton's, 1380Rich's and other similar specced builds for ideas On 26th Jan, 2012 Tom Fenton said:

I asked this on another forum but got to thinking about fitting box section steel to sit in the cill cavity so that the flat of the door step sits on top of the box section the bottom of the b post is welded to it and the captive nuts on a plate weldedto the end of each box section so the front of the rear subframe mounts to it something like 80x40 half the box would stick out past the original inner cill line but should be so much stronger even thought of drilling large holes evenly spaced along its length. And then sleeve the hole ? Anyone done anything like this |

I cant see that achieving anything to be honest since the sill area is already a box section effectively.
I seriously doubt it! |

Well the cills ect are removed anyway from rust.whilst sitting drinking a brew I thought a box section might fit down there and I was thinking it might be stronger being 3mm wall must be stronger than the 1 mm outer cill and inner and being its box section sitting half inside the cill area and half inside the car it would be cool and if saY 50mm holes were drilled down the box section length it could be made into a feature if that makes sense the idea of the floor is it needs complete removal anyway and being I have loads of 1.5 mm sheet steel here I thought it may be quite trick to make my own with a new square trans tunnel just an idea that's been floating around my head its amazing the shit I think up sometimes most the tome it goes no further than a thought |
