For an RTS obviously...

Anyone know who has them ???

MiniSpares are out of stock and don't seem to give a f*** about when they will have them back again when you phone or email them and I can't seem to find them listed on any of the other usual suspects.

Maybe another Mini supplier I haven't thought about ???

I looked into this a couple of months ago and they weren't in stock then. I ended up getting a new old stock turbo plate which has been absolutely fine for me so far..............

Since posting I did get an email back from MiniSpares

"we have no confirmed delivery date for this item at the moment"

Hardly informative.....

So just use a good spec 180mm plate or a standard 190mm ???

I'll try emailing AP direct.

EDIT - AP email'd, I'll see what they say....

Well,

All credit to AP, they got back to me very quickly, questioned the part number and application then got back to me again saying the last ones they supplied (25 off) were to http://www.questmead.co.uk

I have emailed them for confirmation.

I will report back if I hear from them.

Well, even more confusing...

Questmead are trade suppliers only but have still been very helpful.
They pointed me to their retail site which is a company called Auto Performance Products ( http://www.a-pp.com ) and gave me the catalogue link but it turned out to be the 180mm version.

I have one more lead to follow up....

I'd use a stock 190mm until it slips rod .

with my clutch a stock 180 mm turbo plate was fine to around 200 lbs ft .

What is your opinion on the AP Bonded plate Robert?

Well, it gets more interesting.

If the picture on MiniSpares website is to be believed (ie, if it's not just a "generic" picture) then the 190mm one is not an AP Racing plate. Apparently AP Racing and AP are seperate companies so, whilst AP-R recognise the 180mm version, they never made a 190mm version. AP-R are responsible for all the pre-verto stuff we know, uprated plates, orange, grey, double grey covers etc. but say they never did anything verto.

Questmead agree having (they have spoken to someone different in AP-R, not the guy I've been speaking to, but this backs it up), so someone else must have made the 190mm uprated verto version for MiniSpares.

Questmead think LUK from the photo, AP-R think AP (the other company) or Borg & Beck (now Raicam)

My search continues.....

I would also be interested, the 180mm one is still readily available.

EDIT - anyone got one of these 190mm organic, solid centre ones not yet fitted, ideally in the original box but at least with any numbers on the plate itself (most likely on the friction surface) to shed any further light on this ???

It could well help but was it the sprung center or solid centre one ???

The helix website doesn't seem to have pictures.

I think they are stonking ,recommended for all the clutches I make *wink*

,took my car from 'oh dear im in neutral' levels of clutch slip around 200 lbs ft ... to no slip at up to 23 psi and god knows what torque I would estimate 250 lbs ft .

its a winner.

@ Paulolorencio...
Do you still have the box or can you remember, was it a 78-3947 or 71-3947

I have emailed Helix autosports for clarification as the "lesser" of the two (which is available on-line) is decribed as heavy duty organic faced which makes me wonder what the more aggresive one is made of and which one MiniSpares were selling.

Once I have Helix Autosport's answer I'll post again.

Re. the 180mm AP Racing plate, one thing AP-R and Questmead both told me yesterday is that C-AHT596 isn't the real AP-R number, it's just a number that MiniSpares (and some others) use. The "real" AP-R part number is AP CP2084-41

Searching against CP2084-41 should bring up more suppliers than just MiniSpares (I haven't actually tried yet (as I would still like to get a 190mm plate) but Questmead certainly list it against the AP-R number).

All you need to do is ask me Rod *wink* Unless I'm mistaken we don't list this as an AP plate so not sure where that confusion come from? Helix have a supply issue with one of the components and cannot give even an approximate delivery date (they have the problem since 2012!) hence we cannot speculate as to when they will be available again, it's not that we don't give a shit :)

Sorry rod , I bought it a while ago and no longer have the box. Just remember the helix name when I stuck it in the car.

It may be a waste of time if helix have a supply issue but I guess they will let you know when they reply.

First I have waited until I actually got one before adding to this thread.

Gavin,

I did ask (via live chat) and someone else on this forum (but not participating in this thread) phoned through earlier in the day and the answers were, let us say, unhelpfull, not what you have now said

You (Minspares) don't list it as an AP-R plate but your own numbering system gives a mindset that it is (the number being the same as the AP-R one apart from the last digit.

OK, my mistake, AP-R put me right and gave me the correct numbering system for their products.

Paulo,

It will have been the 71-3947 that you got.
I figured out their numbering system from their technical pages and 71 is organic fixed center, the 78 is cerametalic paddle (more serious stuff). They have since confirmed this by email to me.

So I contacted Helix direct....

It was not an easy process.

I had to use three different email addresses (OK, maybe I should have phoned but that works even less for me....).

They have a preferred retailer who I think must be partly owned (maybe wholly owned) from the logos on their website.

They said the organic one was on a three week leadtime but the paddle plate was on the shelf.

I opted for the organic and got it today.

It pays to persevere.

I doubt they made just one for me so there may be more available now off the shelf.

Anyway, big thanks to Paulo for putting me on the right track.

Rod, our part numbering system doesn't work like that, we don't change the numbering system just because the manufacturer is different. Glad you're sorted anyway, I'm always here if you have questions :)
