Stripped my engine back down and thought i would see how the turbo is doing. It seems like it has some side play again.

The only thing i didn't replace during the rebuild was the shaft which i did notice it was worn slightly.

Can this cause the side play?

nick ,there SHOULD be some side play ,but not enough to allow the wheel to touch the sides.

Nick, I rebuilt mine just before you and mine also hase some side to side movement.

I measured the clearance on mine and had around 0.002" cleanance.

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve
MITP 2012 17.01 seconds 1/4 mile against "The Don"
MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

Pretty sure mine can just touch the housing if i give it a wiggle..
