Right.... i parked this up a month ago, used it today and a real bad 'road noise' took the front caliper and disc off and spun the hub and theres no play but its a real rough sound... weird how it suddenly went with no use? So i start searching online and it looks like u cant just replace the bearings? And that you can only buy the complete hub off nissan for like £260!?!!?

Is this right? Some say press the bearing out n just go to a bearing place? But others say this was never designed to do this so can be risky/dangerous?

I just cant believe this is the only route? And that what i thought would be a 50 quid fix is gonna cost 100's?! And i was just about to put it up for sale soon too *frown*

What do you guys reckon?

Damn! To be honest I never had to look into bearings when I had mine. gotta be cheaper to just pick up another hub from a breaker?

That makes the cost of the bearing i need for the audi cheep!

If your getting rid, i'd be tempted with second hand as Nick suggests

Sounds like uninformed scaremongering to me. If the bearing is available then the one that is in there had to get there somehow in the first place. I would personally carefully get the old ones out (no using gardening tools) then go from there.

I have done loads of bearings on these...... as full hubs. When swapping 4 to 5 stud etc we swap bearing hubs. Working on nissans day in day out at my old work i dont recall ever pressing a bearing into an sx sorry :/. However that said you have nothing to lose to try it. If the new bearing presses in snug you can call it good. Afterall most (all?) Modern fords have press in bearings with no further retention, not even a circlip.

Thats what people have said why its bit risky, that theres no retention... and there isnt a bearing for it just have to take it somewhere to try find a right size replacement to get it pressed in..

My friend works for nissan so will see if 1. There still available? 2. How much he can get it for..

But now thinking about it mine is a 5 stud, so what is that off if its not standard?

at 130 odd thats a no brainer solution, but if you want to go the presss in route dont be to concerned, the brake caliper and disk will stop something tragic happening and audiably warn you if things are wandering out of place. but they wont :)
