I am rebuilding a sc gearbox, and measures the lay shaft end play to 0.42 mm. The bearings are standard and not worn. The lay shaft are new, and I can not see any problems with the box itself. As far as I understand this play is way to much, even with the thickest bearing aveiable.

on a SC box the endfloat isnt really as much of an issue, but, if you want to get rid of it, you can get some steel metal shim and cut spacers to go between the bearing and box. On 28th Aug, 2011 Kean said:
