Where's the best place to advertise these days?

Need to sell the Daily, but haven't sold a car privately for a very long time.

I use eBay as a classified ad, as it's such a huge market theses days, or pistonheads

That's what I was thinking. I'm not fucking about putting it on an auction and dealing with all the dreamers.

last 16 or so cars iv sold have been thro gumtree, tried ebay and used to use autotrader religiously but when a car was advertised on both the buyer always came thro gumtree. if you set up an account you can post two car ads free so worth a shot...

Try the places you looked when you bought it.

I generally watch ebay, autotrader and gumtree. It is a pretty rare spec in the price range your in (well i know i used to get the search down to about 10 cars uk wide on autotrader and ebay) so people looking specifically will be searching all over for the right car

Price it right and it will sell

Hadn't thought about gumtree, had always thought of that being the budget end of the market. But may give it a try.

Just looked on autotrader Rab. Looks like mine will be the cheapest of about 4 currently for sale nationwide...

All of the above Andy, then put a post on here saying your going to put a bid on it. lol

I personally look at gum tree, eBay, auto trader and forums when looking.

Good luck with the sale.

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve
MITP 2012 17.01 seconds 1/4 mile against "The Don"
MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

An ad on eBay works really well and gets it out there. Seems like everyone uses eBay nowadays.

Sold the mini recently using it, you just have to be prepared for silly offers and questions

I sold the wifes old car on Ebay. We weren't expecting any more than about £800 for it but sold for a little over £1400.

I think with ebay, how well you present the auction helps a lot. I uploaded lots of hi res well constructed pictures, and described the car in detail, its full history and every little flaw.

Some people deserve to get low bids on their auctions just because they list it with a single line description and a fuzzy single tiny picture taken on their phone.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Col is spot on about the quality of the advert being important.
The reason I bought my old blue A4 cheap was because the advert for it on ebay was awful. Suprisingly the guy I bought it off seemed pretty switched on but his advert was crap!

Yeah, I've benefited in that situation in the past. The spec list for the car is as long as my arm, so a decent advert is a piece of cake.

The final fees on ebay are a killer, last few we have sold have always been on autotrader

Do you have final sale fees on an add though? I thought you paid up like autotrader to simply put up the add. Agreed auction fees are high

Last vehicle I sold on ebay cost me £30 - £10 to list and then £20 when it sold. I think I did it as a vehicle 'buy it now' rather than a classified.
Final value fee was 1% (min £20 max £35)
