I'm currently looking for another throttle body. I don't really want anything bigger than 50mm, in fact 45mm would do.

Previously, I've used a Ford unit and an AT Power 50mm billet jobbie:

The Ford unit is actually about 57mm but has a progressive linkage so is quite useable on the road. The AT is nice and compact but very expensive and a bit of an on/off switch.

For the next project the Ford unit is too big and the AT is about Ģ220 so looking for something a bit cheaper.

Anyone found anything suitable?

I've got a 48mm k series turbo one. I decided to go ITBs, so no longer needed.

K series would be an option, but I need a small ish inlet. They taper a bit too much for my install.

This is interesting:

Pity they don't go down to 50mm.

I use a drive by wire throttle body from the VAG 1.8t engine, although big at 60mm, you can map it how ever you like to pedal position

Jim, are you doing that through your ECU or a separate controller?

That's interesting. Do you know what sort of output you need to drive a DBW TB? PWM, 0-5v or H-Bridge or something else?

Actually, it could also use CAN.

Something to consider for the future when all the safety issues are fully resolved.

Found this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Throttle-Body-50...Y-/181411485494

Very cheap and includes the IACV.

That's a nice find! It would have been even better if it was a PWM IACV instead of a stepper; that would make it simpler to setup and more universal.

I've used steppers on all my builds, so no issues there.

I knew your setup wouldn't be an issue but I was mostly thinking of someone wanting to make a cheap N/A setup where a Microsquirt could be used.

Quarry Bonk

Looks a good bit of kit, but if that's not coming from hong kong/china/etc i'll eat one of my hats lol. The 'best quality' 'best quality' everywhere kinda gives it away.

Good things are coming out of the far east. Soon it will be better than what we can produce in the UK. All we do is moan whilst the rest of the world gets ahead.

Anyway. Erring towards using the Ford unit at the moment.

Already have a flange for it, a TPS, a modified lever for a cable and it has the progressive linkage.

Only down side is bonnet clearance *frown*

What size are the single blades from a motorbike set of ITB's ?

Or something like that ?

In turbo terms, blowing through a 50mm blade is pretty big for an A-series

I think a Cossie blade is around 50-55mm and has no problems making 500hp ?

Surely any modern small car would have something usable ?

Most motorbike TBs are 35/38mm. I think ducati go a bit bigger.

The problem with the small car TBs is that they usually come with a lot of extra stuff such as oddball IACVs etc. That makes them quite bulky.

Take the Yaris one suggested above, it's quite bulky. Plus it looks like it needs a spigot to mount it on.
