I was racing again on the weekend, first time out after I melted the engine at brands. Qualified 6 out of 20, but killed the gearbox in the race :(

I think a bearing failed, then took something with it, I'll strip and inspect this week

Nice, are the dials right? it seems to be geared for 180mph.

On a second look, the RPM is clearly bollocks. full boost a 2500RPM seems unlikely and it sounds like it's doing twice that.

The revs are wrong, I forgot to update the video overlay now logging over canbus, the revs will be exactly double what shown there.

The Camera wasn't moving externally, but the G's from the 9" wide slicks must move the lens on internally on the camera.

I dumped the oil out last night, not a lot of steel came out, but lots of pigtail ally swarf. My guess is diff bearing failure, as although it was making funning noices before it failed, there was no vibrations, and drive was lost in an instant.

I was racing again on the weekend.

Prior to the weekend, the weather looked good, dry and sunny. I spend some time with Endaf and made a new front anti roll bar, as we felt the front of the car wasn't flat enough through the corners. I also stripped the gearbox again to find out it was a bent selector causing it to jump out of 3rd gear.

I arrive at the track all fuzzy headed after a night on the beer to find it raining :( but soon after I got the car through scruteneering the rain had stopped again. I thought the track was drying enough for slicks, and hoped that the ledgends out before us would shed more water than they did. We get called to the collection area and I notice everyone is on wets, and there is lots of standing water on the track. A quick panic and Endaf and I manage to change the slicks on both the minis to wets, but don't have time to change the setup. (Usually I remove the anti roll bars and soften of the shocks). I was unsure how I would get on so took it easy at first. There were many cars going off, and I think I only manage to get one quick lap in between all the yellow flags. I pulled in after lap 8 as I felt the tyres getting too hot and I wanted to save the wets for the race.
When the timing sheets coming out I'm amazed to find I qualified P3 in front of some pretty quick cars, ex touring cars, spaceframed z3's etc.

Race1 came around pretty quick, I hardly had time to cook my pizza for lunch. The sun was out and the slicks were on. The start was ok for me, as the touring car behind me tried a late brake move into the 1st hairpin, only to go straight into the back of a ginetta, this put me in the lead for around 3.2 seconds, before a few other cars got passed. I managed to finish 4th, 1st in class, and beating cars 2 classes above me.

hi all ! not been on here for ages and just read jimbos race reports . just to let you al know he is not telling you all the truth about his racing weekends........ The racing side is all true and he is getting bloody fast but he lied about the fuzzy head bit... he only had a few beers the night before as he was taking this racing thing very serious ! well done jimbo on a top season and class champion but your no longer my drinking buddy !!!

Endaf, maybe his head gets fuzzy after only a few pints now? He is getting on a bit after all - he's closer to 40 than 35 I believe?
